Java Technical Lead

CW Aerospace Instrumentation is seeking a Java Technical Lead for its Ground Station Software product line. The Java Technical Lead will take a leadership role in developing the software application. This position will involve redesigning the front-end and back-end architecture of the software to increase performance and improve usability.

This is a new position at Curtiss-Wright's Teletronics business unit in Newtown, PA. This position will report to the Senior Manager in charge of Windows desktop software.


  • Lead the development team on the ground station software project

  • Design and implement new features and improvements in the software

  • Redesign portions of the software's architecture to improve performance and increase data throughput

  • Collaborate with the existing engineering team

  • Interface with other groups within Teletronics to support new hardware product development

  • Plan and execute projects from start to finish

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in a technical software development role

  • Substantial experience with Java development is required

  • Knowledge of C/C++ and C# is desirable as well

  • Experience with Graphical User Interface design in Java

  • Experience with database design and data processing in Java

  • Experience with common network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, Multicast, etc)

  • Experience designing the architecture for complex software applications

  • Ability to work independently or with a small team on complex projects

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desirable Background

  • Experience with real-time data processing and analysis

  • Experience with video and audio formats and codecs (H.264, H.265, MPEG-2, etc.)

  • Experience in the aerospace industry

  • Knowledge of avionics bus protocols such as MIL-STD-1553 and ARNIC-429

  • Low-Level Windows programming and device drivers

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
